Project Introduction
Founded in 1898, Peking University (PKU) is the first national university in Chinese modern history. Peking University now consists of five faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Medicine, and Information and Engineering. The University has 53 colleges and departments, and offers 120 undergraduate programs, 242 graduate programs, and 212 doctoral programs. While still emphasizing fundamental sciences, the university has paid special attention to the development of applied sciences. In October 2013, there were 14116 undergraduate students, 13665 postgraduate students and 8134 doctoral candidates. There were also approximately 3574 long-term international students from 116 different countries enrolled in various programs on campus; among whom 2540 were Degree-Seeking students.

Chinese Language Studies Program

Chinese Language Studies Program Introduction to the Program Chinese Language Studies Program is open to international students who love Chinese Language and Chinese culture. Students learn Chinese at the PKU School of Chinese as a Second Language as full-time general visiting students. Instruction is divided into elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels.



Chinese Language Summer School

Chinese Language Summer School Introduction to the Program The PKU Chinese Language Summer School is organized and administered by the International Students Division, and taught in the School of Chinese as a Second Language. Upon completion of the program, those students who meet the assessment criteria will be issued with a certificate and transcript.



Four-week Chinese Language Studies Program

Four-week Chinese Language Studies Program Introduction to the Program The PKU Four-week Chinese Language Studies Program is organized and administered by the International Students Division, and taught in the School of Chinese as a Second Language. Upon completion of the program, those students who meet the assessment criteria will be issued with a certificate and transcript from Peking University. Students will be divided into 3 levels—elementary, intermediate, and advanced. There will be four hours of teaching each day, a total of twenty hours per week.

Requirements

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health,withvalid passport, above the age of 18, high school diploma or above, no criminal record and should abide by Chinese law and the regulations of Peking University. They should also respect Chinese social customs.
